Braintree – Vasillaq Kono, 82 years of age, passed away at Boston Medical Center November 28, 2016 beloved husband of Fillareti (Treska) Kono. He was the son of the late Jorgji Kono and Meropi Kono. He was the father of Ylli Kono married to Enilda of Braintree and Meropi Spaho married to Theodore of Worcester.  He was the loving grandfather of Erinda, Ledia and Yona Kono, and Ina and Kostika Spaho. Vasillaq was born and educated in Albania where he received an Associates Degree in Engineering. He was born at Korca, Albania. He worked for the Albanian government as an electrical engineer prior to his retirement in 1997. Vasillaq came to the United States in 1999. He enjoyed music and was extremely devoted to his family particularly his grandchildren.  He was an avid fan of soccer and basketball. His favorite place to visit in the United States was Marco Island in Florida.  He was a member of Saint George’s Albanian Orthodox Cathedral in South Boston.  Since moving to the United States he has missed his native Albania.  Visiting hours will be held at the Mortimer N. Peck-Russell Peck Funeral Home 516 Washington Street, Braintree on Thursday, December 1st from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. There will be a Funeral Service at the Funeral Home Friday December 2nd at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at the Braintree Cemetery on Plain Street. Memorial Donations may be sent to Saint George’s Albanian Orthodox Cathedral, 523 East Broadway, South Boston, MA 02127.
