BRAINTREE- Thomas James Woods, 84 years of age, passed away at the Care One Facility in Randolph on Thursday, June 1st 2017. He was born in Boston and was a graduate of Boston Schools. Thomas was an Army Veteran having served in the Korean Conflict. After he married in 1953, he moved to Charlestown. Thomas worked for Eastern Freightways of Boston as a truck driver. He was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church in Braintree. Thomas enjoyed camping and taking care of his grandchildren. He was the beloved husband of Patricia A. (Wager) Woods. Thomas was the devoted father of Thomas James Woods Jr. of Braintree, Candice M. Podell of Holbrook, and Patricia A. O’Hare of Braintree. He was the father of the late George F. Woods formerly of Braintree. Thomas was the proud grandfather to Nicole Woods of Braintree, Pamela Podell of Weymouth, Ted Podell of Holbrook, and the late Jamie O’Hare formerly of Braintree. He was the great grandfather of Rae-Ann Rutherford of Braintree. Thomas was the brother of Barry Woods and the late William Woods. Visiting hours will be held at the Mortimer N. Peck-Russell Peck Funeral Home, 516 Washington Street, Braintree on Tuesday, June 6th from 4-7pm. There will be a gathering at the funeral home on Wednesday, June 7th at 9:30am to be followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Francis of Assisi Church, South Braintree Square, at 10:30am. Burial will follow at Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree. Memorial donations in Thomas’ memory may be sent to St. Francis of Assisi Church, 856 Washington Street, Braintree, MA 02184.
