BRAINTREE- Ruth Marie Lennerton, 90 years of age, entered Life Eternal at the South Shore Hospital on Wednesday, January 18th 2017 after a period of failing health surrounded by her family. Ruth was born and educated in South Boston. After graduating from High School, she moved briefly to Quincy and then to Braintree where she remained for the rest of her life. She worked as a Miller for the Armstrong Cork Company of Braintree for 41 years, retiring in 1989. Ruth had been a resident of Heritage Lane senior housing in Braintree for 27 years. She was an avid bingo player who organized and ran the games at Heritage Lane. Ruth was known as a great cook. She was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church in South Braintree. Ruth is known for being a very personable and warm, kind person. She was the daughter of the late Leander C. and Mary Ellen (MacDonald) Lennerton formerly of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. She was predeceased by five brothers; John M., Gerald F., Leo C., J. Donald Sr., and Allen Lennerton and 5 sisters; Margaret White, Marjorie Damiano, Mary Adelaide Steel, Helen L. Wehter, and Rita E. Sweeney.  Ruth is survived by a sister-in-law Rita A. Lennerton of Leicester, MA and several nieces, nephews, grand nieces, and grand nephews. She was also the close friend of Rodney and Betty Belyea of Braintree. She was the best friend of the late Haydee Belyea. Visiting hours will be held at the Mortimer N. Peck-Russell Peck Funeral Home, 516 Washington Street, Braintree on Tuesday, January 24th from 12 Noon to 2pm to be followed by a Catholic Prayer Service at the funeral home at 2:00pm.
