BRAINTREE- Roy Edward Smith, 83 years of age, of Braintree Highlands, passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family on Friday, November 18, 2016. He was born in Braintree and attended Braintree Schools. He was a truck driver for the Troupe Company and had a Commercial Driver’s License. He was the son of the late Bertram G. Smith and Clarice (Boutilier) Smith. Roy was the loving father of Diane M. Smith-Daly married to Kevin Daly of Pembroke and Donna A. Smith-Bocash of Weymouth. He was the loving grandfather of Douglas Bocash Jr. of Quincy, Nicholas Bocash, Ariel Bocash, Dillon Bocash, and Dustin Bocash all of Weymouth, and ClariceRose Daly of Pembroke. He was the great grandfather of Hunter Douglas Bocash of Quincy. Roy was devoted to his family and in particular to his grandchildren. One of his favorite pastimes was gardening. Roy is survived by his sister Verna Waters of Bridgewater, and by his brother Earl G. Smith of South Carolina. He was the brother of the late Hilda Harris, Olga Townsend, Thelma Bauer, Ralph Smith, Norman Smith, BFD, Carl Smith, and Bert Smith Jr., BFD. Visiting hours will be at the Mortimer N. Peck-Russell Peck Funeral Home, 516 Washington Street, Braintree on Tuesday, November 22nd from 4-8pm. A Funeral Service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, November 23rd at 11:00am. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery, Holbrook. Memorial donations in Roy’s memory may be sent to the Hospice of the South Shore, 30 Reservoir Park Drive, Rockland, MA 02370.
