Paul D. Machado

January 30, 1958 ~ February 11, 2017 (age 59) 59 Years Old

BRAINTREE- Paul D. Machado, Esq., 59 years of age, passed away unexpectedly from a heart attack at the South Shore Hospital in Weymouth on Saturday, February 11th, 2017. Paul was born in Ludlow and was a graduate of Ludlow High School, Class of 1976. He went on to receive his Bachelor’s Degree from Northeastern University in 1981. Paul then attended Boston University where he received his Juris Doctorate in Law in 1984. Paul ran his own law practice, The Law Offices of Paul D. Machado in Boston. Paul was the current Vice-Chairman for the Town of Braintree Community Preservation Committee and a member of the Town of Braintree Recreation Advisory Committee. He was the secretary/clerk of Braintree Youth Soccer since 2000, where he was also a coach. He was the past President of the Braintree National Youth League. He was also the Director of the Friendship Baseball league for 8 year old children. Paul coached boys and girls baseball and girls softball teams for the Braintree National Youth League. He often spent his Saturday mornings on the field crew for both soccer and baseball. He was also a summer tournament softball coach for the South Shore Stealers. The Baseball field for “Single A” was dedicated in his name at Watson Park in 2015. Paul was an umpire for the Southern Metro Umpire Association and for the American Softball Association. He was a member of the Weymouth/Braintree Elks as well as a member of Business Network International. He was a longtime weekend season ticket holder for the Boston Red Sox. His favorite hobbies were fishing, exterior illumination design, and he was a year-round grill master. Paul is the beloved husband of Helene T. (Hewes) Machado. He was the loving and devoted father to John D. Machado of South Boston, Victoria K. Machado of New York City, and Lauren E. Machado of Braintree. He is the loving brother of Cynthia Saleh of Ludlow. He was the much loved son of Ida (Rodrigues) Machado of Ludlow and the late Peter Machado. Visiting hours will be held at the Mortimer N. Peck-Russell Peck Funeral Home, 516 Washington Street, Braintree on Thursday, February 16th from 4-8pm. There will be a gathering at the funeral home on Friday, February 17th at 10:00am to be followed by a Funeral Mass in the Church of St. Thomas More at 11:00am. Burial will follow at Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree. There will be a scholarship fund established at the Braintree High School in Paul’s memory. The family would appreciate donations be sent to the Paul D. Machado Scholarship Fund, C/O Braintree Co-Operative Bank, 1010 Washington Street, Braintree, MA 02184 in lieu of flowers.
