BRAINTREE- Maria “Pak” Toomey passed away at South Shore Hospital on Thursday, February 23, 2017 due to complications from Parkinson’s and Heart Disease. She was born in Korea and came to the United States in 1958. She has resided in Braintree since 1967. Pak spent many years as a hairdresser. She frequently donated her skills and time with the elderly at various local nursing homes. She continued this practice until just recently. Pak enjoyed gardening, traveling, and going to the casino. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She was also well known for her artistic skills. Pak is survived by her three daughters; Monica Jardin married to Michael of Braintree, Patricia “Pat” Toomey and her companion Donald Parlee of Braintree, and Susan Hewson married to Glenn of Derry, N.H. She was the adored grandmother of Rachelle Hewson, Richard Hewson, and Peter Jardin. She is the devoted great grandmother of Alexa J. Saint Andre. Visiting hours will be held at the Mortimer N. Peck-Russell Peck Funeral Home, 516 Washington Street, Braintree on Monday, February 27th from 11am to 1pm, to be followed by a Funeral Service at the funeral home at 1pm. Burial will follow at Braintree Cemetery. Memorial donations in Pak’s memory may be sent to the American Heart Association, 300 5th Avenue, Suite 6, Waltham, MA  02451-8750 or to the American Parkinson Disease Association, 72 E Concord St, Boston, MA 02118, or to the South Shore VNA, 30 Reservoir Park Drive, Rockland, MA 02370. The family was very grateful for their services and devotion to Pak.
