HANOVER- Captain James Wording Allen, 81, of Hanover, passed away on Friday morning March 2nd, 2018 at the South Shore Hospital in Weymouth. Jim was born in Medford and raised in Braintree. He was a graduate of Braintree High School. After High School, Jim was a member of the National Guard. Jim was employed as a firefighter with the Hanover Fire Department rising to the rank of Captain. Jim retired in 1995 after spending 28 years on the Hanover Fire Department. He was member of the Drill Instructors of Massachusetts. Jim was the beloved husband of Eleanor “Ellie” (Smith) Allen. He is the devoted father of Michael J. Allen married to Karen of Hanover. Jim was the proud grandfather of Dana Allen who he loved dearly. Jim was the brother of Robert C. Allen of Braintree and the late Earl W. Allen. A visiting hour for Jim will be held at the Mortimer N. Peck – Russell Peck Funeral Home, 516 Washington Street, Braintree on Wednesday, March 7, 2018 from 10:00 – 11:00 am. A funeral service will immediately follow at 11:00am at the funeral home. Burial will be private.
