BRAINTREE- Gertrude Marie (O’Connor) Murphy, 85 years of age, entered Life Eternal at the Colonial Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Weymouth on Saturday, August 13, 2016. She was the wife of the late Gerard F. Murphy who died in March of 2006. She was the devoted mother of Gregory P. Murphy married to Bernadine Murphy of Arlington, Gerard F. Murphy Jr. of Boston, Nancy A. Boyle married to James Boyle of Braintree, Thomas E. Murphy of Braintree, and the late James Murphy. She was the loving grandmother of Jennifer Murphy nad her fiancé Garrett Glorioso of Arlington, Jacqueline Galizia and her husband Marc of Long Island, NY, James Boyle and his wife Lauren of Holbrook, Christopher Boyle of Braintree, and twins Thomas Boyle and Ashley Boyle both of Braintree. Gertrude was the adored great grandmother of Grace Boyle. She is survived by a brother Arthur O’Connor of Texas and was the sister of the late William O’Connor formerly of Attleboro. Gertrude was a graduate of the Dorchester High School for Girls and a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Parish, South Braintree. She had resided in Dorchester before moving to Braintree 15 years ago. She was the second youngest of 15 children. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Public visiting hours will be held at the Mortimer N. Peck- Russell Peck Funeral Home, 516 Washington Street, Braintree on Thursday, August 18th from 5-8pm. A private Catholic Prayer Service will be held before going to Braintree Cemetery.
