BRAINTREE - Frances “Gloria” Muir, 95, passed away peacefully at Bourne Manor Nursing Home on March 18, 2017.  Gloria was born in Cambridge.  She was the daughter of Albert and Susie Frost. She was a graduate of Braintree High School Class of 1938, and spent most of her life in Braintree and at a family summer home in the Popponessett section of Mashpee.  Gloria was married to the late James A. Muir and had fond memories of the days they met at the Riding Club, going dancing, traveling, and cruises with him.  Gloria had a home on Wilsons Grove Street in Mashpee where she enjoyed spending all of her summers surrounded by family and friends. She also loved reading and spent several years walking at the South Shore Plaza and meeting with friends at their “friendship table.” Gloria worked as a secretary for McKesson & Robbins, Inc. for several years and for Manpower, Inc. working for a number of companies.  She also was a volunteer for the Quincy City Hospital and for the South Shore Hospital in Weymouth.  She was the beloved wife of the late James A. Muir who passed away in 1995.  She also was the loving and devoted mother of the late David C. Muir who passed away in 2015.  Gloria is survived by three grandchildren, Juli Muir and Marc Muir both of Sandwich and Lori Cannon married to Kevin of Mashpee.  She also leaves five great grandchildren, Lauren Miller, Taylor Danzey, Cameron Danzey, Ciara Cannon and Isla Cannon.  Gloria is also survived by her nieces Carol Moore and Susie Moore.  A private funeral service and burial will be held on Friday March 24th at the Mortimer N. Peck-Russell Peck Funeral Home 516 Washington Street Braintree. The Reverend Michael Frady of the First Congregational Church of Braintree will officiate.
