BRAINTREE- Elsa E. (Grahn) Pagnani, 97, of Braintree passed away at her home on Saturday, April 7, 2018 with her children by her side. She was the loving wife of the late Clionidi Pagnani who died in 1984. She is survived by three children - Edward A. Pagnani of Holbrook, Barbara G. Pagnani of Braintree, and Janice M. Pagnani of Braintree; two grandchildren - Alison Pagnani of Holbrook and Kristin Pagnani of Braintree; three great-grandchildren - Lucas, Marc, and Ryan of Braintree. She was the sister of the late Anna Gilmartin, Lillian Cunningham, Frank Grahn, Karen Wilbur, and Doris Sawyer. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Elsa was born in Natick to the late Frank E. and Clara (Swenson) Grahn. Raised in Quincy, Elsa attended Quincy Schools and was a graduate of Quincy High School. For many years she would listen to the Thanksgiving Day football game on the radio between rivals Quincy and North Quincy High Schools. After high school Elsa worked at the Keystone factory in Dorchester. She taught Sunday School in both Quincy and Braintree. In addition to being a homemaker, she volunteered at the South Shore Hospital in the children’s ward. She was a member of South Congregational Church, served as a Deaconess for many years, and enjoyed working at the church fairs. In her later years she attended Union Congregational Church. Elsa loved being at home and working outside in her yard in all seasons. She was especially proud of her Swedish heritage. A special bond existed between all her siblings and their spouses. Visiting hours for Elsa will be held at the Mortimer N. Peck – Russell Peck Funeral Home, 516 Washington Street, Braintree on Friday, April 13 from 4:00 -8:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held at the South Congregational Church, 1075 Washington Street, Braintree on Saturday, April 14 at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree. Donations in Elsa’s Memory may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
