DUXBURY- Elizabeth Barker (Pinel) Polvinen, 74 years of age, of Duxbury passed away on Christmas Day, December 25, 2016 at Wingate at Kingston. She was born in Boston and had formerly lived in Braintree and was a longtime resident of Duxbury. She was a Braintree High School Graduate Class of 1960.  She was an active member of the First Parish Duxbury Unitarian-Universalist Church and All Souls Church in Braintree. She was a member of the Duxbury Interfaith Council. Elizabeth was formerly a corporate manager for AT&T in Boston. She had been an insurance adjustor for the Karl Bright Insurance Company in Milford.  She was the beloved wife of the late Raymond Olavi Polvinen who died in 2004. Elizabeth was the devoted mother of Eric J. Swanson of Rutland, VT and Lisa A. Bertola married to Didier Bertola of Scituate. She was the grandmother of Margaux Bertola, Jean-Didier Bertola, Pia Bertola, and Siri Swanson. Elizabeth is survived by several Polvinen step-grandchildren. She was the step-mother of Paulette McDermott, Kathy Colleran, Pamela Dunn, and James Polvinen. She was the step-mother of the late Jay Polvinen. She was the step sister of Edward O’Brien of Eason, N.H. Elizabeth was also the cousin of Elaine Salvucci of Springfield, VA. There will be a memorial service at First Parish Duxbury Unitarian-Universalist Church, on Saturday, April 29th at 11:00am. Memorial donations may be sent to the First Parish Duxbury Unitarian-Universalist Church, 842 Tremont St, Duxbury, MA 02332, or to Cranberry Hospice, 36 Cordage Park Cir, Plymouth, MA 02360.
