Yarmouth Port – Brian H. Pope of Yarmouth Port, formerly of Braintree entered into rest after a brief sudden illness, July 9th, 2017.  He was the loving father of Nicole Pope and grandfather to Aaliyah Rule of Yarmouth.  Son of Herbert and the late Dorothy Pope of Braintree.  Beloved brother of Andrea and her husband Juan Antonio Gil of Weymouth and Matthew Pope, his wife Vanessa, nephews Benjamin and Spencer of Tampa, FL.  Also loved by his Aunt Fran and Uncle, the late Daniel Kearney, cousins Janice McKeever, Richard, Kevin, and Alan Kearney.  He will also be missed by his many friends on the Cape.  Brian was raised in Braintree, graduated Braintree High School class of 1979 and then moved to Cape Cod.  He loved all the things the Cape offered such as fishing, kayaking, jet skiing, scuba-diving, and riding his dirt bike.  Brian was very athletic and enjoyed playing ice hockey and golfing. He won many prizes while playing in his golf league.  His working career consisted of nearly 30 years in carpentry, construction, and property maintenance all over Cape Cod.  There was nothing Brian couldn’t build or fix.  He had a passion for the drums and getting together with his buddies to rock out.

Brian was a good friend to anyone who needed him and would give you the shirt off his back.  Brian loves to grill, especially any fish he caught and call a friend over to enjoy it with him.  He was a true Cape Codder, loved the outdoors and found peace on the ocean.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 5th at South Congregational Church 1075 Washington St. Braintree.  Visiting hours with the family will be at the church from 10:00 to 11:00am with the service to follow at 11:00am.  Immediately after the service, relatives and friends are invited to a luncheon in the church Fellowship Hall.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to benefit the First Tee of Massachusetts - specifically to the Hyannis Golf Club of Cape Cod.  This is an MGA Junior Golf program that builds character, instill life-enhancing values and promotes healthy choices through the game of golf.  Online donations can be made here http://www.mygolfadmin.net/TDGAdHoc/AdHocEventReg.aspx?CltID=100&evid=3&PartAct=Add. There is a drop-down menu to select Hyannis GC and a Notes section where individuals can indicate the donation is in memory of Brian H. Pope.
