RESCHEDULED DUE TO STORM TUESDAY

BRAINTREE- Barbara J. (McGurr) Burke, 79 years of age, passed away at the South Shore Hospital on Wednesday, March 8, 2017. She was born in Roxbury and graduated from Boston Public Schools. She worked as a Home Health Aid for the Kit Clark Senior Center for many years. She had a heart of gold and was devoted to her family. Barbara is survived by her husband Thomas E. Burke of Braintree. She was the devoted mother of Charles J. Burke married to Elaine Matthews-Burke of Braintree, Cheryl Burke of Weymouth, and Michael W. Burke married to Michelle of Falmouth. She was the mother of the late Thomas E. Burke II. Barbara was the proud grandmother to 9 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Visiting hours will be held at the Mortimer N. Peck-Russell Peck Funeral Home, 516 Washington Street, Braintree on Wednesday, March 15th from 4-8pm. There will be a gathering at the funeral home on Thursday, March 16th at 10:30am to be followed by a Funeral Mass at Sacred Heart Parish, Weymouth Landing, at 11:30am. Burial will follow at Braintree Cemetery. Memorial donations in Barbara’s memory may be sent to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, P.O. Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284-9168
